I thought that this article was very interesting because it related to the farmers in Grapes of Wrath. One of the intercalary chapters focused on the wasted abundance of food in California, and how those who owned tried to keep the wasted food from those without. It’s interesting how the people tried so hard to keep the food away from the people who had nothing, especially when the food was no good, although it did invoke sympathetic feelings for the farmers. I didn’t understand why the people couldn’t just give food to the Okies, since they had literally nothing and all they wanted was food and work. I’m glad that today’s society isn’t as downtrodden as what it was during the 1930s.
